Damn.

Well, it would appear that someone didn’t have their voodoo dolls in order. I suppose it couldn’t be helped; cute fuzzy penguins will beat child-munching bungalows any day. That’s the sad state of our country, I’m sorry to report.
Buscemi interviewed in Captured
Posted by Mona - No CommentsCaptured is part formal history and part inspirational text, reminding people on the outside looking in how often their contributions form the invisible pillars of American art and popular life long after they themselves are forgotten. To quote the great pop art filmmaker Jack Smith, “Art school? Art school? I didn’t have the luxury of going to art school. I had to come to New York and go straight to work making art.” [Amazon]
A new(ish) book by Clayton Patterson features an interview with Steve Buscemi in Chapter 71. The book also includes an introduction and interview with Phil Hartman. Buy it on Amazon or view the table of contents and editor’s website. There is also an excellent review written in the NY Press.

I Think I Resent My IMDb
Posted by Mona - No CommentsI Think I Love My Wife, a soon-to-release by some guy I don’t like (that’d be Chris Rock), seems to be missing one very crucial element on it’s IMDb page: Steve Buscemi. Nowhere is he listed as cast or crew, and Buscemi’s page likewise ignores the movie. Yet he’s featured in the movie’s trailer. One IMDb board members goes so far as to suggest that it is John Waters, not Steve Buscemi, in the trailer. (Not that John Waters is listed, either, but that’s besides the point.) So, I did a little research.
Don’t get me wrong here, John Waters is many wonderful and happy things. But he is not Steve Buscemi. And the man pictured up there in the screencap? THAT’S STEVE BUSCEMI, PEOPLE. And hey, while we’re ragging on IMDb: the new design sucks. Just saying.
Five critics agree: Delirious doesn’t suck.
Posted by Mona - No CommentsWay to go, Delirious! Rotten Tomatoes thinks you’re just smashing, as do Jonathan Holland, Sura Wood and three other top notch connoisseurs of the fine modern talkie. Nice job earning a 100% on the Tomatometer!
Igor!

We haven’t heard a whole lot about this animated movie, have we? Buscemi signed on early to voice Scamper, the industrious looking creature to your left. Now there’s the announcement that Jay Leno and Jennifer Coolidge will be joining the already impressive voice cast as the King and Sybil, respectively.
From the source article:
Igor, distributed by The Weinstein Company, is a playfully irreverent comedy which brings a new twist to the classic monster genre. It tells the story of a mad scientist’s hunchbacked lab assistant who has big dreams of becoming a scientist in his own right and winning the coveted first place award at the annual Evil Science Fair.
Nothing but bare bones plotline is known about this film right now, but hello: John Cleese, Steve Buscemi AND Chris McKenna? This going to be one very funny flick.
Interview screens at Berlin.
Posted by Mona - No CommentsInterview was screened yesterday at the Berlin Film Festival. Interview, as you may or may not know, is one of three films by the late van Gogh.
The next film in series will be Blind Date, helmed by actor-director Stanley Tucci and starring Tony Shalhoub and Patricia Clarkson. The second film revolves around a couple who attempt to salvage their relationship after losing a child.
The final movie, 06, will be directed by Bob Balaban and follows the relationship arc of two people who discover each other via a telephone sex hotline but never meet in person.
If you’re interested in a little more backstory on van Gogh, this article gives some extra details about his death.
So far as I am aware, neither Delirious or Interview picked up any backing at Sundance.
I wish I had something to write about.
Posted by Mona - No CommentsBut I don’t. Nope! Aside from the impressive wave of “Sienna Miller sucks” articles that, predictably, have flooded the entertainment columns, (You think I’m kidding?) Good old B isn’t up to much. We still have the Oscars to look forward to, where Monster House is up for Best Animated. So, until Interview or Delirious gets backing, or someone gets into a fight or out of a closet, I’m dry on links.
