Chuck and Larry: Unavoidable
Posted by Mona - No CommentsI just opened my July 30 edition of Time Magazine to find I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry as Unavoidable in the Downtime section.
Two hetero firefighters (Adam Sandler and Kevin James) pretend to be homosexual because … because it allows the film to indulge in both gay propaganda and gay bashing. James is O.K. in this Tootsie wannabe, as is sweet, sexy Jessica Biel. But it’s the old, infantile Sandler shtick: hitting and hurting, then hugging and learning. Except that in movie comedy, Sandler never learns.
Chuck and Larry hit theatres last week at #1, and brought in an additional $19 million this past weekend.
Casting switch, comic books for Igor
Posted by Mona - No Comments
There’s a lot of action in and around the Weinstein Co.’s CG-animated monster movie “Igor.” Eddie Izzard has replaced Jeremy Piven as the insane Schadenfreude, and producer Exodus Film Group has inked a deal for a series of comic books based on the film with IDW Publishing.
This one absolutely cannot miss. Chris McKenna, John Cleese and Steve Buscemi could sit around to talk about the various sizes of bolts available and it would be funny, entertaining and fresh. That’s not even taking into consideration Sean Hayes, Jay Lenno, Molly Shannon and now Eddie Izzard.
Production has just wrapped up, which means news will leak in slowly but steadily. Igor is slated for release October 24, 2008. Buscemi will voice Scamper, the cuddly widdle bun-bun above.
Have another Hostess twinkie there, pal.

The scandal! The drama!
Tipped in by both readers Sarah B. and creator Chioke. Thanks, guys!
Filmmaker magazine works it

He said no.
Later he said yes. If he ever does that to me again I will smack him.
DiCillo, describing his biggest risk to Filmmaker magazine in it’s Sundance issue back in February. More recently, Buscemi appears on the cover of it’s 2007 Summer issue to promote Interview… and is interviewed by DiCillo? I certainly didn’t see that coming. The article isn’t accessible online, and I can’t hunt down an availability date, so I guess we’ll have to make like children and just use our imaginations.
Delirious trailer
Posted by Mona - No CommentsIf you missed it before, here’s the (alleged) trailer for DiCillo’s upcoming film Delirious.
Do you see? Do you see why I’m so psyched?
Let’s make a sex tape with Buscemi!
Posted by Mona - No CommentsThe problem with low budget artsy films is that everyone suffers.
Oh Tom DiCillo, writer and director of the upcoming Delirious. Darling. Don’t feel bad. Michael Bay doesn’t have your glorious hair and eye-catching bone structure, not by a long shot.
DiCillo is savvy
Posted by Mona - No CommentsI wrote it for Steve Buscemi, not because he’s one of the most brilliant actors I’ve ever worked with but because I wanted someone on the set I couldn’t wait to see every day.
I originally was a little disappointed in DiCillo. After Sundance, Delirious sort of fell off the radar and I figured it would stay that way and quietly release to an ignorant public. It would seem that I was wrong. Several wheels have been set in motion recently, most noticeably the MySpace page (With TISB at top honors, thank you) that coordinates with DiCillo’s amusing and clever blog, which matches the official Delirious website.
Seriously, the blog is fab. Lots of little behind-the-scenes shenanigans and scoops, and it’s updated fairly consistently though there’s not much there yet. I have to at least tip my hat to him for releasing some screens, which have made our new layouts possible. See the relevant ones after the jump. Continue reading DiCillo is savvy…
But seriously guys: Delirious

I’ve gotten about 250 hits just today just for Chuck and Larry but I am so ready for Delirious, I’m not even going to pause for the fury to die. I’ve been waiting for this movie for months, since I first heard about it back in December. Now we’re reaching the final month before release and I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas. I can hardly sit still. I want. I want now.
Reviews have been nothing but positive since day one, which is really saying something. Buscemi is, of course, amazing. DiCillo has absolutely impressed me. The entire cast is perfect. I’m going sick with anticipation. Prepare to be saturated with it folks, ’cause it’ll be raining Delirious until halfway through August.
Happy 100

Exactly one month before our 1st birthday, TISBuscemi has hit 100 posts. I’ll wax poetically in much more detail come August, but I want to drop a quick thanks and a bucket of kisses to everyone who visits, reads, e-mails, and links. I would have stopped long ago if not for you. Thanks so much, again.
Chuck and Harry
Posted by Mona - No Comments
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry pulled in $34.8 million over opening weekend, nudging Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix out of the top spot.
Chuck met most analysts’ expectations and marked Sandler’s eighth broad comedy to open with more than $30 million. His biggest debut was 2005’s The Longest Yard, which opened at $58.6 million over Memorial Day weekend.
Way to go, Sandler!
