Parting Glances screencaps

Steve Buscemi may be in hibernation or whatever, but I’ve been keeping fairly busy this week. I watched and capped the 1986 movie Parting Glances, often labeled as one of the most influential gay issue films of our time. Buscemi plays Nick, a homosexual rocker living with AIDS. It was a lot of fun to watch Buscemi in his first real role, picking out all the little quirks he still does today - the forehead thing when he looks up, the cheek blowing thing… you know. Plus, hello? Jawline, damn.
Aside from all that, Parting Glances is really an incredible story. Sad, of course, but there’s so much humor and hope mixed in that I almost didn’t cry at the end. Almost. I also almost didn’t cry earlier on, to the best line of the film:
Heaven is really boring.
Hang on as long as you can.
It gives me goosebumps even now. Click here for all the pictures - link contains spoilers. Oh, and a dildo… just so you know. I was really proud of myself because I thought I was able to keep it under 150 screens. Nope! Just over 300. Oh well.

I have a handful of pictures from the Sarajevo Film Festival, so why not toss them all up? Buscemi is looking good. His new haircut is very Love in the Time of Money, I think. Love it. See the rest of the photos over at Flickr.

Buscemi was honored for “outstanding contribution to the art of cinema and the support to the development of the Sarajevo Film Festival” at the close of its 2007 run. Congratulations on yet another well earned award!

For real this time: Charlie Rose
Posted by Mona - No CommentsAnd here we go: Steve Buscemi on Charlie Rose, August 23, 2007.
Buscemi on Charlie Rose
Posted by Mona - 1 CommentLast night Buscemi was on Charlie Rose for a chat about, you know, things he’s been doing lately. I guess. The interview video isn’t up yet, to my absolute irritation and this is, of course, the one day those crazy pirates didn’t put it on a video sharing service.
Until it’s up, please enjoy this 1996 CR interview from Buscemi’s first foray into directing with Trees Lounge.

I’ve never been a big supporter of a goatee on any man, personally, but the soul patch is a look I can totally get behind.
Lebowski Fest

Lebowski Fest - a celebration of all things Lebowski - is coming for you. And has been for some time, since 2005? Awesome. In case you miss the scattered festivals, the website sells t-shirts, bumper stickers, posters and other Lebowski-licious goodies…
…Including TISB’s mighty tagline:

…which I will be buying for my car next paycheck.
Delirious downgraded
Posted by Mona - No CommentsDelirious has just been pulled from its two original screens in NY and and moved to a different single theater. The same thing has happened in LA. Not really in the mood to write much more tonight.

Here at TISB, we think you are:

TISB is the birthday princess

Well, here we are. One year ago, I posted my very first blog entry on MySpace, and it was all over. In case you were wondering, it was a cast update for I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which went on to hit #1 at the box office just a few weeks ago.The site moved off MySpace to a hosted WordPress blog, and a few months ago I finally shelled out the 8 bucks for a domain, some of the best money I’ve ever spent.
