Gingerbuscemi

Rumor mill! Is Steve Buscemi and Norm McDonald doing voices for the gingerbread men in AT&T’s newest holiday commercials?

I haven’t seen the ads, and I can’t find them online. Anyone who can pass me a copy gets a big smile and a thank you.

Edit: YES! Click here to view the advertisement featuring Norm McDonald and Steve Buscemi as son-and-father gingermen.

John Waters isn’t fond of romantic comedies

The lips of John Waters

The wonderfully bizarre John Waters, oft mistaken for Steve Buscemi (and vise versa) has imparted his kooky list of DVD preferences to NPR. From the strange to the extreme, Waters certainly knows what he likes and isn’t afraid to dish about it. You can read the article, or listen to the whole interview at your leisure.

I’m looking for extreme behavior that I might never commit but that interests me, Waters says. And I’m always interested in behavior that I don’t understand. I run to that.

He recommeds a lot of, um, interesting titles. One I’m especially pleased with is Crash - Cronenberg’s, not the 2005 Movie of the Year and one of my all-time favorite movies.

Barton Fink screencaps

Buscemi fills a neat little niche in Barton Fink as the eager Chet. John Turturro and John Goodman makes this movie very funny and the Cohen Brothers keep everything running smartly. See all the stills over at Flickr.

Buscemi named in G-Force

G Force cast

Steve Buscemi, Nicholas Cage and Tracy Morgan will voice the three lead characters in G-Force, the upcoming Walt Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer animation/live action movie. Will Arnet and Bill Nighy have also signed on.

The story follows a group of ultra-intelligent animal commandoes who work for a government agency trying to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world. Cage will play Speckles, a mole; Buscemi will portray Bucky, a hamster; and Morgan will voice Blaster, a guinea pig. Nighy will portray an industrialist, and Arnett will play an FBI agent.

G-Force is slated to release May 1, 2009.

Interview box art!

IGN! My hero! Behold, friends, the box art for the upcoming release (Dec. 11!) of Interview! Aside from the alarmingly airbrushed Buscemi, it looks so campy and fun! Four stars! So many reasons for exclamation points!!

Igor nabs promo deal

igor02.jpg

After months of no word on Igor there is news that the animated movie nabbed a promotion deal with CKE Restaurants. Over 3,000 Hardees and Carls Jr locations will participate, with toys, in-store displays and online advertising.

There will also be books, play sets and action figures:

Weinstein and Exodus already have lined up several licensing partners for the film, including a master license for toys and collectibles with Corgi International, a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster and a comic book series with IDW Publishing.

Corgi will release a wide range of products, including action figures and play sets. Simon & Schuster plans nine “Igor” books, which will be published under its Simon Scribbles and Simon Spotlight imprints.

Igor is the animated tale of a young scientist out to win the science fair. Buscemi voices Scamper the rabbit, with other talent including John Cleese, Chris McKenna,  Eddie Izzard and John Cusack. To say this movie will be ‘good’ is a vast understatement, especially with a lineup like that. Igor is set for release October 24, 2008.

Maxim Magazine published their mind-blowingly pointless list, Famous People Who Look Like They Smell. Looks like Buscemi is worse than Pete Doherty but not so bad as buddy Rob Schneider. Umm. I’m sorry, I really don’t know what to say.
