Happy-Go-Lucky premiere

With the stock market plunging straight to hell, right along with consumer confidence and my 401K, there’s movies at least that sound perky and bright. Here’s one more snap of Buscemi at the Happy-Go-Lucky premiere last weekend at the New York Film Festival.

And the Emmy goes to…

That bastard Respect and talented comedian (grumble, grumble) Tim Conway, for his guest appearance on 30 Rock. Buscemi was up for the same award, but you know how it goes. Same song every year. Well, there’s always the Oscars.

Igor arrivals

Super smiley Jo Andres invites you to check out the arrivals photos from the Igor purple carpet, thanks to Exposay.

TMZ sucks

You’ll agree with me once you watch this video. As one commenter eloquently put it:

Way to ignore the questions of an idiot without acting offended. Buscemi is great.

The cameraman sounds like a fucking moron while Buscemi looks at him like he’s a fucking moron. Now that’s entertainment.

Igor Goodies

Just days before its cinematic debut, here are three new clips from the delightful looking Igor, via Worst Previews.

Clip 1
: We meet Fredrick, a gentleman evil scientist that vaguely reminds me of an ex boyfriend, swimwear and all.
Clip 2: “I’d rather be a good nobody than an evil somebody.” I sense a movie moral! Also, Igor makes delicious tea.
Clip 3: Scamper! What else could you possibly need to know?

The Igor premiere was September 13, and while my invitation clearly got lost in the mail, Tara Met Blog was right there on the purple (purple) carpet ready for interviews and photo-ops. Here’s the interview video, with Buscemi popping up at 2:45 to answer an poorly-researched question. I can’t tease her too much, since Buscemi apparently only remembers voicing Monsters, Inc. Oh well. Stick around for the cute kid afterward. I think he’s the same one that was in Tropic Thunder.

Igor comes out nationwide on September 19! Here’s a purple carpet premiere photo to tide you over.

Buscemi, Trump kick off 9-11 charity trading

Today, it seems, is do-gooder day at TISB. It is also Septmeber 11, hence:

BGC Charity Day is held every year on September 11th to commemorate those lost in the World Trade Center tragedy.

BGC Partners donated 100% of all trading commissions from September 11 - for the past three years - to dozens of worthy charities. Who is BGC?

BGC Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: BGCP) is a leading global full-service inter-dealer broker, specializing in the trading of financial instruments and related derivatives products. BGC Partners provides integrated voice, hybrid, and fully electronic execution and other brokerage services to some of the world’s largest and most credit worthy banks, broker-dealers, investment banks and investment firms for a broad range of global financial products, including fixed income securities, foreign exchange, equity derivatives, credit derivatives, futures, structured products and other instruments.

People helping people, giving without taking, being a part of something bigger than yourself: on my best days, I imagine that’s what this country is really about. September 11, 2001 taught America a lot about what it meant to suffer and stick together. Seven years later, I sometimes sit and wonder where all that awareness went. Swallowed up by government lies and empty threats, I suspect.

Good on you, BGC Partners. What a tremendous thing to do.

Help Igor

Igor lives in the land of Malaria… but he doesn’t want anyone else to, and neither should we. 1-3 million people die of malaria every year; 70% of those deaths are children under 5 and 90% are in Africa. Malaria is a preventable, treatable disease and all it takes is a $5 bed net. Help Igor help people around the world by donating to the Against Malaria Foundation. Every cent of your donation goes to sending nets across the globe. No percentage taken out, no ‘administrative’ bullshit.

Sure, you say, saving lives is ace but what’s in it for me? Brother, I hear you. So hear this: when you make a donation, you are entered to win one of 10 ‘Igor in a nets’ signed by the Igor movie cast. Donate $5, get entered once. Donate $10, enter twice, etc. Help yourself, and everyone else!

Can’t donate? Do your part for free, and help spread the word. Toss up a button on your website or MySpace page and do some good.

Hands on Igor (The Game)

Igor is coming, Igor is coming! And he’s brought merchandising rights. The video game based on the animated movie will be out this month.

In the Wii and PC versions, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from four of the main characters (Igor, Eva, Scamper, and Brain) either by yourself, or with four of your closest friends. Each player will enjoy real environments from the film while battling enemies and goals to advance through the story-line.

Read the official press release and some info about the Nintendo DS version over at Ripten.

Hollywood Profiler: Steve Buscemi

A fantastic career write-up of Mr. B, including some upcoming projects to look forward to and a great look back at all the classics he’s done.
Do you think all he can do is act?
Steve is also an accomplished director with 4 feature films under his belt (Tree’s Lounge which he also wrote and starred in, Animal Factory, Lonesome Jim, and Interview in which he wrote and starred in appearing on screen for 99% of the movie). Not to mention taking the director’s chair on a few episodes of The Sopranos and Oz for HBO. The man can do it all.

Well said!

Buscemi enjoys The Company of Men

Tee hee.

Martin Landau, Steve Zahn, and Steve Buscemi have joined Ron Livingston in Raul Sanchez Inglis’s The Company Men, the story of a collapsing toy company.

Add that to We’re the Millers, Youth in Revolt, Keep Coming Back and St. John in Las Vegas, and you’ve got just another September for Mr. NoSleeps McLatte.
