Biography

I’m not that interested in revealing that much of myself to strangers, Buscemi says.
Generic bio: Steven Vincent Buscemi was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 13, 1957. In civilian life, he was everything from a firefighter (1980-1984) and ice cream truck driver to a gas station attendant and bartender. He has been married to the beautiful and talented Jo Andres since 1987. The couple has one son, Lucian.
Buscemi broke into the acting scene in 1986, with a leading role in the film Parting Glances. Since then, he has appeared in over 100 movies, directed and produced film and television, played spokesman for multiple charitable organizations; generally just been kicking ass for years and years now with no sign of stopping.
Although Buscemi can usually seen as a supporting thespian in this great stage of life, he has had huge success in starring roles. He frequently collaborates with some of the best in the business, and has done multiple films with Jim Jarmusch, Tom DiCillo, John Turturro, Adam Sandler and the Cohen Brothers. He is becoming known for his directing as well, having tackled five films to date - if you count What Happened to Pete - with writing credits in three of them.
Life is exciting for Mr. Buscemi. He’s been smacked around, shot up and grounded down for the entertainment of the people. Once he was even stabbed in the face… only that was kind of for real… and totally Vince Vaughn’s fault.
You can find a complete filmography pretty much anywhere. (Like here, for example.) As you can see, Buscemi is a very busy guy. He makes anywhere from three to five movies a year, not counting all his charity work and television projects.
By the way: it’s Boo-Shem-Mee. [quote source]
