Happy-Go-Lucky premiere

With the stock market plunging straight to hell, right along with consumer confidence and my 401K, there’s movies at least that sound perky and bright. Here’s one more snap of Buscemi at the Happy-Go-Lucky premiere last weekend at the New York Film Festival.

Igor arrivals

Super smiley Jo Andres invites you to check out the arrivals photos from the Igor purple carpet, thanks to Exposay.

Igor Goodies

Just days before its cinematic debut, here are three new clips from the delightful looking Igor, via Worst Previews.

Clip 1
: We meet Fredrick, a gentleman evil scientist that vaguely reminds me of an ex boyfriend, swimwear and all.
Clip 2: “I’d rather be a good nobody than an evil somebody.” I sense a movie moral! Also, Igor makes delicious tea.
Clip 3: Scamper! What else could you possibly need to know?

The Igor premiere was September 13, and while my invitation clearly got lost in the mail, Tara Met Blog was right there on the purple (purple) carpet ready for interviews and photo-ops. Here’s the interview video, with Buscemi popping up at 2:45 to answer an poorly-researched question. I can’t tease her too much, since Buscemi apparently only remembers voicing Monsters, Inc. Oh well. Stick around for the cute kid afterward. I think he’s the same one that was in Tropic Thunder.

Igor comes out nationwide on September 19! Here’s a purple carpet premiere photo to tide you over.

Rome sketch

A beautiful sketch by reader Mel; inspired, if I am not mistaken, by the Rome Photocall series of photos. Click the drawing for a full-size view. Thanks for the send-in!

More Igor!

Igor - so close! Opening September 19! I totally saw the movie poster in my local mall! Neveminding the eye-rolls I get from my Economics-majoring boyfriend, I love a good animated feature, and I can’t wait for Igor. Be thrilled with me, and have a gander at the new stills released of Scamper and the gang.

A bright smile

Well hello there, Mr. Smiles McBeaming. Why so cheery? Perhaps because TISB’s second birthday is only 23 days away?! And because Mona (who is also having a birthday soon) swears to get back on the update train?

Oh, you flatter me. Go on with all that.

Happy August everyone!

First look at Dr. Rob

A shot of Buscemi as Dr. Robert Wilson in the upcoming John Rabe. More official character shots and a video clip can be seen at The Shanghaiist.

When Stevie met Stanley

null

I found this too adorable not to post:

Stanley Tucci and Steve Buscemi arrived at the same time, befitting a friendship that Buscemi said began when they were part of a hiking trip that got too tiring and intoxicating to finish. They wound up hitching a ride down the mountain on the back of a septic tank servicing truck (motto: “We’re No.1 in the No. 2 business). The filmmakers share ownership of a production company now. “If anyone wants to invest,” Buscemi quipped, “We’ll take you down with us.”

This made my week.

Night of 1,000 Stars

Buscemi grins from his VIP seat at The Night of 1,000 Stars:Evening of Black Magic, April 11 2008. Tonight caps off the final day of the Sarasota Film Festival.

Steve Buscemi is ‘Good’!

Even snippy modern fem-bloggers love B. Jezebel covered The Visitor screening last night in NYC and placed Buscemi and partner Stanley Tucci in the ‘Good’ category for the evening. Other thumbs up went to Blythe Danner and Patricia Clarkson, while three women I don’t recall hearing of were bad and poor Griffin Dune was the sole ‘Ugly’.

And just in case: Bromance - noun 1. A non-sexual relationship between two men that are unusually close.

They really are just sooo cute though, aren’t they?
